February 2 - March 29
eight-week online course
"Earthly Delights: True Abundance In a Time of Scarcity"
Come join a magical experiment: how do we create true abundance when all around us systems are crumbling? The meltdowns we’ve been experiencing, from Wall Street to Greenland, are a result of faulty thinking, of basing our institutions on false ideas and flawed stories. What are the ideas, the new stories, that can become a basis for real abundance, justice, and ecological balance? Over these eight weeks, we’ll explore eight principles derived from the earth-based spirituality of the Goddess and the practical approach of permaculture to ecological design. 1) Abundance Springs from Relationships; 2) Take Root; 3) Feed What You Want to Grow; 4) Build from the Ground Up; 5) Waste Is Food; 6) Value Diversity; 7) Sink In; and 8) The Gift Multiplies. We’ll explore what they mean in systems that range from gardens to political strategy, and through exercises, meditations, and practices, we’ll apply them to our lives, and see what happens. The course is light on reading; the major work will be self-reflection, journaling, forum discussions, and Starhawk will post trances and new lectures. As we tell ourselves new stories, as we take delight in the true gifts of the earth, our lives and our work will flourish like a plant growing in healthy soil.
Course hosted by Growing Edge Institute. Enroll at this web site.
Cost $150. Some partial scholarships may be available, please contact administration at GEI.

Thursday, Feb 12: opening keynote address: "Women Take Action: Using the Insights of Feminism to Change the World"
War, global violence, environmental degradation, social injustice... these are hard times for women, children, and all who hold compassionate and caring values. Nurturing and many other qualities and activities associated with women are devalued, while force and violence are held up as models of strength. But women represent a different vision of strength. Women-initiated and women-led actions have a special energy and power. That power comes not from excluding men--we welcome men as participants--but because of the joy and visionary potential that arise when women work together to fiercely defend the values of life. In this talk, Starhawk speaks from her experiences as an organizer with Code Pink: Unreasonable Women for Peace; her work with Jewish and Palestinian women in the West Bank and Gaza; and her many years as a leading innovator in the Goddess revival and eco-feminist movements. How can the insights of feminism help us out of the mess we're in today?
Booksigning to follow.
Time: 7:00pm
Location: Seattle Unity Church
Cost: $15 WOW members, $20 non-members

Friday, Feb. 13: day-long workshop: "Let it Begin Now: Another World is Possible!"
"Another world is possible!" is the rallying cry of the Global Justice movement, and it is also the inspirational belief of those who seek to create a society based on compassion, balance, and love for the earth from a spiritual as well as a political base. How do we envision that world, and what are the tools and insights we need to bring it about? Can we be active in the political arena without losing touch with our spirit? Can we learn to bring healing, joy, celebration, and empowerment into the realm of action? And for those who have been activists, how do we feed our spirits, avoid burnout and despair, and renew our courage? We explore the tools of magic, "the art of changing consciousness at will," and use ritual and celebration to help us link the worlds of contemplation and action.
Booksigning to follow.
Time: 9:00 am - 4:30pm
Location: North Seattle Community College
Cost: WOW members $95, $135 non-members

Sunday & Monday, February 15-16
San Jose, California
Starhawk will take part in the Pantheacon conference.
Short workshop: Sunday, 1:30 p.m., Oak Room: "Holding Power Well"
This workshop explores issues of power and leadership.  How do we take
our power and own it as a life-giving force?  How do we recognize when we do
have power, and use it in ways that empower others?  How do we nurture and
support leadership in our groups, while also holding our leaders accountable?
This is a workshop for anyone who has struggled with these issues in
relationships or groups.  All of us have internalized models of power as
domination, which often interfere when we attempt to form new structures based
on power-from-within.  We will consider power within sacred space, and through
ritual, trance, and energy work develop the tools we need to transform
destructive patterns into energies freed for change.
Panel discussion: Monday, 1:30 p.m: "International Paganism"
Discussion among teachers who travel internationally to discuss the place of Paganism in the world.
Also look for a booksigning with Starhawk at the Ancient Ways bookstore booth.
Information on Pantheacon and registration for conference is at www.pantheacon.com/09/

Friday - Sunday, March 6-8
Rowe, Massachusetts
weekend workshop
"Walking the Edge: Deepening Our Magic"
In nature, edges, where one ecosystem meets another, are the places of greatest dynamism, energy and creativity. Where the meadow meets the forest or the ocean meets the shore, we find the most diversity, and also the most stress.
In this workshop, we explore our own edges. How do we walk between worlds? When have we been outsiders, marginalized—and what unique vision arises from the boundaries? How do we challenge our own edges? What boundaries are healthy, and which constrict us unnecessarily?
When the old answers—spiritual, political, and emotional—no longer serve, how do we weather the conflicts and disappointments that inevitably arise in our groups and communities of support? In this crucial moment of history, we are more than ever called to step into our full power and creativity, to maintain hope and compassion, to hold our vision and the commitment to make it real.
How do we push our own creative edges, taking more risks, pushing our work, our rituals, and expression further into excellence? Using the tools of ritual—meditation, trance, ecstatic drumming and dancing, storytelling, group work, guided journeys, and alter building, we will create a sacred space. In this space we can deepen our practice and expand the borders of who we can be.
Hosted by the U.U. Rowe Conference Center.
Cost: $190 - 290 sliding scale, plus cost of meals and housing (choice of options). Some work-exchange/barter available, please contact Rowe Center.

July 30: morning talk and spiral dance
"Times of Hope and Chaos"
We live at a pivotal moment in history, when the tides of hope are rising, but the systems that sustain us, environmental, social and financial, are crumbling all around. How do we navigate through the storm, and bring ourselves and our world to a place of harmony, balance and beauty? We need both the tools of spirit—grounding, deep connection and celebration—and the skills of organizing and mobilizing—vision, passion, courage and commitment. And we need the ideas and principles that can help us shift our culture from an obsession with things to a focus on relationships. Starhawk explores the images and myths of the Goddess that can help us. What should our role be as a Goddess movement? How do we help guide the world onto the good road, the road of justice, peace and abundant life?

July 30: 3-hour afternoon workshop
Please check back for details.
